The Wumpavision is a most wonderful device that is prominently featured in both Crash Bandicoot: N-Ventures! and Crash Bandicoot: N-Scapades! as the thing Crash Bandicoot loves most. Uka Uka also highly approves of its existence. Probably based on the real-world "television", the Wumpavision is able to pick up audio and video signals over great distances, bringing theatre-quality entertainment right into your living room. Its primary competitor seems to be the somewhat more Wumpantiquated Wump Radio.

History of Wumpavision[]

Wumpavision makes its début appearance in the third episode of the first season of N-Ventures, Chief Papu's Park Attack, which also introduces us to a somewhat less prominent piece of fruit-based technology, the Bananaphone. In the episode, it played a fairly serious role, kicking off the episode's plot by airing an ad for Papu Papu's new amusement park. Most of its other early season one appearances were in a similar vein of seriousness; conversely, in most future episodes its appearance was more focused on gags, granting the show's writers the opportunity to introduce "hilarious" non-sequitur pop culture "references" into their episodes, thus creating the Wumpavision dynamic more familiar to long-time fans of the show. Coinciding with the writers' growing reliance on these gags was a dumbing-down of Crash's character, reducing him to a "comical" addict for whom the device was the primary motivation, with the majority of his plotlines revolving around, or at least being spurred by, Wumpavision. This character aspect was scaled back, but certainly not eliminated, in N-Scapades!.
